Encontro Internacional de Pianistas de Piracicaba

Piracicaba International Piano Festival

The Encontro Internacional de Pianistas de Piracicaba (EIPP) brings internationally renowned pianists and pedagogues to the Escola de Musica de Piracicaba “Maestro Ernst Mahle” (Piracicaba- São Paulo State, Brazil) each year during the month of July. The purpose of the event is to advance each students artistic and pedagogical knowledge. It also unites piano teachers and pianists of all ages and from different parts of Brazil. The event consists of daily lectures, master classes, workshops, table of discussions, and recitals.

The main areas covered during the festival are: performance, pedagogy, technique (Taubman Technique and Keyboard Wellness), historical performance practice, group piano, collaborative piano/opera coaching, technology, and career management/entrepreneurship.

The VI EIPP had 16 piano faculty from Brazil, USA, Cuba, Canada, and Japan. It attracts approximately 100 participants from different regions of Brazil as well as international participants from Portugal, the USA, and China. The event provides a great opportunity for recruiting students, since it concentrates on the best young pianists from Brazil. Some American institutions including Southern University, Louisiana State University, Georgia State University, Temple University, James Madison University, the University of Colorado- Boulder, Ohio University, and West Chester University have been using this event to aide in recruiting students.

The festival was created and directed by Dr. João Paulo Casarotti, Assistant professor of Piano &Piano Pedagogy at Southern University A&M College.
